Countess du Barry Cookies

Mother du Barry's
Hermit Cookies

1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups sifted flour
1 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1t cinnamon
1/4 t of each nutmeg and clove
2 cups raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream butter, add sugar and egg. Beat until light.
Add sifted ingredients and raisins and nuts. Mix well.
Drop by teaspoon onto a baking sheet. Bake at 350
for 15 to 20 min. Makes 4 doz. Store in airtight can.

Decorate
1 cup powdered sugar
3T milk
Mix together for frosting.
Frost top. Then add 1/2 red cherry in center
and then slice green cherry in fours and add two
to each side of the red cherry to make a Poinsetta.


Snow Balls

4T powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup flour
1t vanilla

Cream butter and sugar together.
Add flour and vanilla. Blend well .
Roll into balls . Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
Let cool awhile. When still a little warm, roll them in
powdered sugar.

Your cookie recipes look like they will taste better than the one I posted.....but not as much fun to make!!

Hermit cookies?!? OMG, I have to try, they are my favorite. My mom makes them also, & it looks like the ingredients are the same - will send some of hers up to you. They are truly delightful!

Made the snowballs with kids on Thursday...came out great (easy to make and not much mess)....and the adults used the Countess Bedelia's recipe with Barrilito Gold (made a mess in a different way ... lol) ... Have a great Christmas!

Why don't you post pictures of snowballs and hermits too? I'm not sure what they are.......I'm probably thinking of different snowballs too........
